低温下孔型气体探测器的成功运作

摘要:Hole-type gas detectors, GEMs and capillary plates, can operate at temperatures as low as 77 K. Capillary plates alone can achieve gains above 10E3 from 300 K to 77 K, while combining them with CsI photocathodes can achieve gains of 100-1000, depending on the gas mixtures used. These findings suggest new possibilities for using capillary plates as detectors for UV light and charged particles at cryogenic temperatures, such as in noble liquid TPCs, WIMP detectors, LXe scintillating calorimeters, and cryogenic PETs.
